Paul Heyman says Hulk Hogan was jealous of WWE Hall of Famer

Paul Heyman says Hulk Hogan was jealous of WWE Hall of Famer. Hogan was the most popular face in pro-wrestling for several decades.

Hulk Hogan was the biggest name in professional wrestling during his peak. He helped usher in wrestling’s boom back in the 80’s during his run with the WWE. Hogan went on to headline Wrestlemania eight of the first nine editions and even held the title for 1474 days in his first reign;      the second-longest in company history.

Despite being at the top for so long, it seems Hogan wasn’t secure about his spot as the top guy. According to Paul Heyman on an A&E Documentary, Hogan resented the Ultimate Warrior because the WWE Hall of Famer was designed to replace him in the promotion.

Paul Heyman says Hulk Hogan was jealous of WWE Hall of Famer Ultimate Warrior

”How could there not be a professional jealousy and envy between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior was designed to replace Hulk Hogan. How could Hulk Hogan not resent that.”

”If you’re going to compete for the number one spot, by design, you will have to think this is why I’m better than this person. The very nature of that competition will breed jealousy and envy between the two of them.”

Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior did not have the best of relationships. Warrior was very vocal about his disdain for Hogan and his backstage politics. Warrior himself has been accused of doing the same on numerous occasions.

On screen, the two shared a friendship until Warrior challenged Hogan for the then WWF Championship at Wrestlemania 6. Warrior, who was also the Intercontinental Champion at the time, dethroned Hogan and became the first person to hold both titles.

The future looked bright for him. Unfortunately, his ego and personal issues with Vince McMahon got the better of him and derailed his career.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
