Needless to say, he will definitely be a first ballot Hall of Famer when he finally calls it a day. He is not yet in the WWE’s Hall of Fame. Strangely enough though, the WWE Network listed him as a 2021 inductee yesterday. It has since been corrected. However, Dave Meltzer thinks that the mixup was not without basis.
Is Daniel Bryan going into WWE Hall of Fame 2021?
Speaking on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggested that Daniel Bryan could actually be heading into the Hall of Fame. Bryan Alvarez questioned the timing, considering, Bryan is still an active performer. In fact, he is challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Fastlane tonight.
Meltzer explained that the situation may have something to do with the fact that Bryan wants to slow down without getting heat for his decision.
“Who knows? You know he’s certainly hinting about toning the whole thing down.”
“He wants to be a dad, because he has money, but how do you say that [in a promo without getting heat] because you’re depriving people of their enjoyment and they’re really selfish sometimes.”
Alvarez stated that the crowd reaction at the Tunderdome was in WWE’s hands and Bryan could have made the announcement without any boos. However, Melzter replied that while the former WWE Champion wants to slow down, he doesn’t want to retire.
“That’s true, you just hit the button and that’s how it works. Yeah, but he doesn’t want to retire either. You know what I mean? He wants to not travel much, but he never wants to retire. He wants to be out there like Dory Funk, Jr at 80 years old, and I’m serious. Hopefully, he can do that, but he never wants to retire. He doesn’t want to be on the road much either.”
