Randy Orton books WWE title match against Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions

Randy Orton books WWE title match against Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions by beating Keith Lee and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match.

A lot happened on WWE RAW tonight. A tag team ceased to exist, another partnership on the show showed signs of crumbling and the Retribution finally showed up after missing out on 3 of the last 5 main roster shows. Among the many changes however, the only constant was Randy Orton winning yet another shot at the WWE title.

Orton won a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and new call up Keith Lee to earn his opportunity. All three participants in the match had to beat an opponent each earlier in the night for a place in the number one contender match.

Orton squashed Kevin Owens after Aleister Black’s interference. Rollins beat Dominik Mysterio while Keith Lee bested Dolph Ziggler. Three top names fighting for an opportunity to go head to head should make for an excellent main event on Television and it did not disappoint.

However, the only problem, and at this point it’s nitpicking, was the inclusion of a third participant. It made Orton’s win obvious.

You’d have to be blind not to see his win coming considering he’s the reason why the champ is in the hospital.

However, Keith Lee’s win on Sunday made the situation interesting. That win however, was set aside for a host of matches leading to a triple threat. Once the announcement was made, it was obvious that the third person was there to take the pin and protect Lee.

Regardless, this was a great way to set up the match between Orton and McIntyre. Much better than just having him line up for another match just because he said a few things to the champion. Gives the show a much more competitive feel while furthering other storylines.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
