Real Reason Why Keith Lee was replaced in the U.S. Title Triple Threat Match at WWE Elimination Chamber. The Limitless One was not part of the match.

The United States triple threat match was originally scheduled to take place between holder Bobby Lashley, Riddle and Keith Lee. Lee was taken off the match following an injury. Instead of making the match a singles clash however, the WWE arranged a fatal four way on the kick off show to determine the third competitor.

Ricochet, Elias, John Morrison and Mustafa Ali fought for a spot in the U.S. title match. Morrison came out on top securing his place. However, many wondered why couldn’t they just have a one on one between Lashley and Riddle. After all, that’s what they did when Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal Championship in 2018.

The triple threat match between him, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman was changed into a singles match. Then why did the WWE see to it to bring in a third competitor for that match at Elimination Chamber last night.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, this was done in order to maintain the plans the WWE had for the end of the event. It was necessary for a third man in the match to ensure that the title could be taken off of Lashley without having him pinned, eventually setting up the conclusion of the pay per view.

“Now you know why they didn’t do a singles match and why they were adamant about it because Keith Lee not being in it made a singles match, but that just wouldn’t work for what they were trying to do. So that’s why they had to get Morrison in the match, or somebody. Could have been anyone in that third man spot, because they needed.”

Lashley feuded with Drew McIntyre last year for the WWE Championship. Having played a huge part in taking the title off of him, it seems that the two will have a program together heading towards Wrestlemania this year.

It will also be interesting to see if Lashley guns for the WWE Championship once again. After all, he was instrumental in the Miz becoming a two time WWE Champion.

Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
