Real reason why Zelina Vega lost her return match on SmackDown

Real reason why Zelina Vega lost her return match on SmackDown. Vega made her WWE return this week only to lose her first match on her comeback.

Zelina Vega was let go by the WWE last year under controversial circumstances. Vega refused to comply to the company’s edict against third party apps and was fired for it. In the months since, both sides have cleared the air and have arranged a working relationship once again.

Her comeback was made official when Sonya Deville announced her as part of the Money in the Bank Women’s match without having to even qualify. This resulted in an incensed Liv Morgan coming out and questioning the decision.

Both women went on to have a match. Morgan came out on top after pinning Vega with a roll up. This surprised many because they felt it undermined her return. It is very rare for a returning star to lose a match so why did Vega lose her comeback bout?

According to PW Insider, Vega’s loss was not meant to be a way for WWE to cut her throat on her return. The very fact that they have her in the Money in the Bank ladder match is a push. In fact, a bigger one than what she had previously received. Espescially considering that apart from the Asuka title match, she has mostly been used as a manager during her time on the main roster.

“As far as cutting Vega’s throat off, they announced she’s in Money in the Bank, which is already a stronger push as a wrestler then she had received on the main roster.

“She had been mostly used as a manager with the exception of the Asuka bouts right before she was released last year.

“They plugged her into the Liv Morgan story.  She may have lost but it wasn’t like she was Barry Horowitz.  It was Liv sneaking a win.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
