Snoop Dogg says WWE was not happy with his appearance on AEW

Snoop Dogg says WWE was not happy with his appearance on AEW. The rapper, who is also a WWE Hall of Famer, appeared on AEW’s New Year special.

Snoop Dogg appeared on AEW’s first episode of Dynamite this year. He made a backstage appearance and even mixed it up a little inside the ring. The rapper made headlines when he took to the top rope for a splash that was as entertaining as it was absurd.

Many wondered how the WWE reacted to his appearance considering his status as a hall of famer with the promotion. It was reported back in December that he received heat within WWE for his appearance and the rapper confirmed it as fact during his appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning podcast.

Snoop Dogg says WWE was not happy with his appearance on AEW

Snoop Dogg revealed that the WWE was not too pleased with his decision to appear on AEW. He went on to add that he made the appearance to promote TBS’ Go-Big Show.

“They felt some type of way.”

“Let me tell you this, Snoop Dogg ain’t no wrestler. He’s bigger than that. You gotta understand that. This is the dynamics of what happened: I had a show on TBS called Go-Big Show. So, Cody Rhodes was one of the judges on the show, and he’s one of the top dogs at AEW. So, as a promotional vehicle for the gig, I went on AEW.”

Speaking of WWE’s reaction, he said that they froze him out for a while before calling him back, to which he charged them double.

“‘Hey, you f***ing with them? We got to push pause on your ass for a minute’. So, I say, ‘cool.’ They pushed pause for about two weeks, and then they say, ‘Hey man, we got this video game and we need you.’ Well, you know what? Since y’all told me to push pause, that’ll be double.”

The video game Snoop Dogg is talking about is most likely WWE 2K22. The trailer for the game debuted at Wrestlemania earlier this month.

Snoop was inducted into the WWE’s celebrity wing of their Hall of Fame back in 2016.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
