Triple H recalls Lemmy crediting him with Motorhead’s rejuvenation

Triple H recalls Lemmy crediting him with Motorhead’s rejuvenation. The Game walked out to the band’s song as an in-ring performer in the WWE.

A wrestler is more than just what he does inside the squared circle. He is the complete package. The moves he uses, the gear he wears and the music he walks in the ring to. Think The Undertaker or John Cena when he first became the doctor of thugonomics.

Triple H was always great in the ring. However, his rise to the top of the WWE came around the time he began using Motorhead’s ‘The Game’ as his entrance theme. So much so that the title of the song became his moniker.

Triple H and Motorhead’s frontman Lemmy Kilmister shared mutual respect for each other. In a recent conversation on Metal Injection’s Squared Circle Pit podcast, he revealed a heart to heart he had with the metal legend and how Lemmy gave him the biggest compliment ahead of a Motorhead gig.

“We were talking and [Lemmy] goes, ‘You’ve gotta look out there tonight. Wait until you see all the kids that are at our event. We didn’t have any of that before we started with you,’” Triple H recalled.

“He said, ‘It used to be an old-timer event at our shows where it was all these old metalheads that had kinda aged out. All of a sudden, we’re like this cool, young band and we’ve got kids here and teenagers and young adults that are at our shows again. It’s been like a refresh for us.’ To me, there was no bigger compliment.”

The WWE legend also revealed that his father in law was an AC/DC fan.

“He’s sort of a classic rock kind of guy. AC/DC is the big thing for him,” Triple H said of Vince McMahon. “Bob Seger — those are the things that really resonate with him … He loves the music, but to him, it’s the experience. Kid Rock, ZZ Top — all that stuff where they can give you that performance as well. Not just the music, but the performance is big, too — he loves that.”

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
