Dwayne Johnson as "Maui"

From holding special screenings to gifting a custom-made truck, Dwayne Johnson never misses a chance to surprise them. On the other hand, fans go crazy even if they see a glimpse of The Rock. However, there was one instance when even his best efforts were not good enough. Dwayne Johnson once dressed up as Disney’s “Maui” for a young fan but was just ignored. In fact, what was supposed to be a meet and greet ended up becoming a fun moment.

In 2017, a young boy named “Ty” expressed his dream come true moment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He wanted to meet “Maui” from the 2016 hit animated movie “Moana”. The WWE Icon, who had given voice to the character, was more than happy to grant the wish.

During that year’s Thanksgiving, the former WWE icon was working on his 2018 movie, “Skyscraper”. So, he welcomed Ty and his elder sister to one of the sets where he was shooting. However, the meeting didn’t go the way The Great One was expecting.

Dwayne Johnson, wearing camo shirt and trousers and a long dark curly wig of “Maui” entered the tent. He even sang the song “You’re Welcome” from the movie. However, Ty, who seemed unimpressed, only gave a frosty stare. Johnson then tried to offer a high-five, but even that didn’t work.

The meet and greet may not have turned out as expected, but it did create a cute and hilarious moment. Taking to his Instagram, the Megastar shared the video with an interesting caption. Dwayne Johnson told how, after he left, Ty was so excited that he got to meet his favorite “Maui”.

The WWE Icon/Hollywood megastar is all set to play the popular character in its upcoming live adaptation

On many occasions, Dwayne Johnson has stated that the “Maui” in “Moana” was inspired by his Samoan grandfather. As a matter of fact, the character is very close to his heart.

Earlier this month, the megastar revealed that he has been in talks with Disney for a live adaptation of the movie. The Rock will be producing the project and also reprising the role of “Maui”.

Nevertheless, as of now, the movie is in its early stages, which means there’s no concrete date for its release. Although fans of “Maui” must be excited that Dwayne Johnson himself will play the character.
