John Cena Children: Does the WWE Icon Have Any Kids?

John Cena was WWE’s poster boy for almost the entirety of the PG Era. The sixteen-time World Champion is a revered personality in pro wrestling. After having a two-decade-long career in WWE, Cena has stepped down from his active wrestling career to make a name in Hollywood. The leader of the Cenation is the main star in HBO’s Max series Peacemaker and is also working on other film projects. Cena started his wrestling career in WWE in 2002. Surprisingly, Cena did not have a good start and was on the verge of getting released. But then, he turned it around after he adopted the “Doctor of Thugonomics” gimmick and became a fan favorite. 

Today, he is one of the most admired wrestlers in the industry, with a massive global fan following. It’s conspicuous that Cena has dedicated most of his life to wrestling. However, amid his onerous wrestling schedule, Cena was once married to Elizabeth Huberdeau. The couple stayed in a relationship for three years before parting ways in 2012.

The same year, Cena started dating Nikki Bella. Bella was betrothed to Cena after he publicly proposed to her at WrestleMania 33. However, the couple amicably split in 2018. Finally, John Cena found love in 2020 and tied the knot with Iranian-born Canadian citizen, Shay Shariatzadeh. 

Does John Cena have any children?

It’s no secret that John Cena loves kids. The WWE veteran recently set a Herculean record after granting over 650 wishes through Make-A-Wish Foundation. However, the Cenation leader does not have children of his own. In an edition of The Drew Barrymore Show, John Cena explained why he does not have children.

According to him, he is not in a hurry to have children just yet, as he is more focused on his career. However, Cena is open to having children in the future. Cena stated that he would have kids once he has the “passion” for it. 

“I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that. You have to have a passion for it. You have to have a fuel for it. It’s like saying to someone, ‘Man, you know you are a pretty good with your hands. You would be a great carpenter,’” he explained.

Although Cena is in no rush to start a family, he told The Sun in an interview that he was open to having kids with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh. Cena met the electrical engineer from Vancouver in 2019 on the set of Playing With Fire. The couple had a low-key wedding in October 2020. 

“I’m a little bit older, a bit wiser. I’m realising there is life and life exists and it’s beautiful – and I think part of that is being a parent, so we’ll see,” he explained.

The real reason why she called off her engagement with John Cena

John Cena’s six-year-long relationship with Nikki Bella hit a brick wall because the former was hesitant about starting a family. According to Hollywood Life, Nikki Bella was keener on having children with John. However, Cena was reportedly not ready and seemed to have acquiesced about having children after a while.

But Bella did not want to force Cena into something that he may regret later. And so, the couple separated in 2018. Although the break-up was “traumatizing”, Bella moved on and got engaged to Artem Chigvinstev from Dancing With Stars in 2019.
