CM Punk WWE return

Rumors about CM Punk’s possible return to WWE have been making rounds for weeks on the internet. The Straight Edge superstar shocked the world of wrestling when he made his debut in AEW last year. Fast forward to 2022, Punk again shocked the world of wrestling after causing a “melee” backstage. After successfully defeating Jon Moxley at All Out PPV, Punk claimed the AEW World Championship. However, his reign as the Champion was short-lived as he was stripped of the title following his actions backstage.

For those not in the know, during the All Out post-show media scrum, CM Punk became furious and shouted out obscenities directed at the AEW Elite, Colt Cabana, and Hangman Adam Page. To make matters worse, he power-walked backstage and started a huge scuffle with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.

Everybody involved in the scuffle was suspended by the company in the wake of the incident. Although AEW brought back the Elite, it is highly unlikely that CM Punk would be brought back as he was the primary aggressor. AEW is reportedly contemplating buying out Punk’s contract to officially release him from the company.

Punk hints at his possible WWE return

The road to WrestleMania 39 starts after WWE’s next PLE, Royal Rumble 2023. According to reports, WWE is planning two huge main events for both nights. Although it’s not official, it goes without saying that one of the nights will be headlined by Roman Reigns and The Rock.

Fans have been speculating that the other main event spot may be filled by the returning Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk.

With so much hype about his possible return to WWE, the former WWE World Champion took to his Instagram story to post a picture from his heyday in WWE.

In the picture, Punk is seen standing on the middle turnbuckle, in his old yellow wrestling gear sporting the silky shiny hair he had back in the day. We don’t know if Punk is teasing his return or reminiscing about his days in WWE, but either way, we know that Punk is thinking about the WWE.

A wrestler from NJPW blames CM Punk for stealing GTS

CM Punk is known for two of his deadly finishers, the Anaconda Vice and GTS. However, the Cult of Personality was not the creator of the move he uses to put his opponents to sleep.

New Japan pro wrestler Kenta used the move way before Punk did. Kenta’s run in WWE in 2014 was easily forgotten. Back then, he went by the name Hideo Itami. His career picked up after he joined New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2019.

The former GHC World Champion recently cut a promo where he took shots at CM Punk for stealing his move.

Furthermore, Kenta blames Punk for not being allowed to use his own finishing move during his stint with the company. Although CM Punk has openly given credit where it is due in the past, it doesn’t seem to cut it for the Japanese wrestler.
