Pro wrestling has a decades-long history, and over time, fans have seen the sport evolving in many ways. Be it the presentation to the type, wrestling in the 21st century is a whole different game. Now, fans see orthodox matches, matches with stipulations, and sometimes, even cinematic matches. And when you talk about stipulation-based matches in WWE, the list will be incomplete without Bray Wyatt. At WrestleMania 36, The Eater of Worlds delivered an outstanding “Firefly Fun House Match” against John Cena. However, many fans might not know that Bray Wyatt once wanted to wrestle in a Chainsaw DeathMatch.
Well, another name that pops up while discussing matches with a unique theme is current AEW superstar Sting. The WWE Hall of Famer, in his prime, has been a part of many hardcore matches. Although his run with WWE was short, he certainly was the dream opponent for many stars in the company.
Bray Wyatt once openly pitched a Chainsaw DeathMatch with “The Icon” Sting
The famous yet unknown moment took place at the end of the American Football season in 2020. Bray Wyatt, a longtime Las Vegas Raiders, made a huge announcement if his team made it to the 2021 season of Super Bowl.
The Eater of World went on to state that if his beloved Raiders make The Super Bowl next year, he will wrestle “The Icon” Sting. And not just in a normal match, Bray Wyatt wanted to fight The Stinger at halftime in a chainsaw deathmatch.
In fact, the former WWE Universal Champion took to his Twitter account and openly made the statement. He called out the then-Raider Head Coach Jon Gruden and gave him the responsibility of preparing the team. He wrote:
If my beloved @Raiders make The Super Bowl next year I’ll fight Sting at halftime in a chainsaw death match. As long as he’s available.
And I put that on Jon Gruden!
I hope you’re happy AB👿

Obviously, the Chainsaw DeathMatch between Bray Wyatt and The Icon would have been a cinematic one, unfortunately, that could not happen. A few months after the post, Sting left WWE and signed with AEW later that year.
The Eater of Worlds is currently entangled in an interesting feud with LA Knight
After falling prey to Vince McMahon’s budget cuts last year, Bray Wyatt made his return at the recent Extreme Rule PPV. This time, Bray Wyatt has kept fans hooked up with his cryptic promos without even wrestling.
For the last few weeks, he has been feuding with “The Prince of Eternia” LA Knight. Although both men haven’t wrestled a match so far, the storyline is expected to reach the ring soon.

Nevertheless, the way WWE is projecting his current persona, fans can expect another cinematic match in the future. Though a chainsaw deathmatch against Sting would have been an interesting one to see if things had gone according to Bray Wyatt in 2021.
