The world of wrestling has been shaken since news of WWE potentially being sold broke out. Vince McMahon, who was ousted from the company last year, made a sensational return recently with the intent of facilitating a sale of the promotion. There have since been several rumors regarding potential buyers, prompting fans around the world to speculate who could take over the promotion. Another question on everyone’s mind is how much would it cost to buy WWE?

The WWE runs a multi-billion dollar business. They have $1 billion dollar deals in place with NBCUniversal and Fox for Raw and SmackDown each. They also host shows in Saudi Arabia, where they make around the same as they do at WrestleMania.
Knowing all of this, the sale of the promotion is definitely not going to be a cheap affair. But exactly how much are we talking about here?
How much would it cost to buy WWE?
According to Macro Trends reports, the WWE is worth $6.53 billion as of January 10, 2023. This is a much higher price than what Vince McMahon paid his father to take over the company. The WWE patriarch soon adopted a ruthless approach. He first took over the country before stamping his mark all over the world.
Vince McMahon also sits on a handsome net worth of $3 billion himself, according to Forbes.
This means that only a handful of companies and personalities can purchase the promotion on their own. This, however, hasn’t stopped rumor mills from working over-time. In fact, a recent report suggested that the company had already been sold.
Is the WWE already sold?
Rumors were rife last night, with several media outlets reporting that Vince McMahon had in principle agreed to sell the company to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. It was being reported that Vince McMahon carefully planned the sale during his retirement.
There was also talk about the company going private. However, all those reports have since been debunked.
Contrary to reports stating otherwise last night, there is no deal in place at this precise moment for WWE to be sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund or any entity, sources say.
The organization is still exploring all options, I’m told. Developing.

Regardless, the intention of selling is still very much a reality, with the company exploring all their options before making a final decision.
According to CNBC’s Alex Sherman, any sale that takes place will likely occur no later than the middle of this year. This will likely coincide with the company negotiating rights for RAW and SmackDown, both of which are set to expire in 2024.
