Most WWE superstars have humble debuts before they break into stardom. John Cena is among the few to have a spotlight beginning to his career, coming out to accept Kurt Angle’s challenge and starting what would become a new era and chapter in the history of WWE. His has since lived almost every moment of his life in the public eye. Despite his mega stardom, however, he has managed to keep his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, away from the prying eyes of fans and media. This, however, has only piqued the interest of many who want to know more about the legendary wrestler turned actor’s better half. Today we are going to look at everything we know about her.

His wife may not have the recognition, but she is just as accomplished in her own field.
Everything you need to know about Shay Shariatzadeh
Shay Shariatzadeh was born in 1989. She is of Iranian heritage, although, she now lives in Vancouver. Shariatzadeh is an engineer and works at Sonatype as a Project Manager. She studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where she received a bachelor’s degree in 2013.
Cena met his future wife on the set of his 2019 movie, ‘Playing with Fire.’
John Cena saw Shay Shariatzadeh at a Vancouver restaurant where she was dining with a group of female friends, and in his own words, couldn’t take his eyes off her.
“There was one woman I was looking at, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her… that’s when it started,” Cena told Entertainment Tonight.
The couple would soon date. Any questions regarding who the new woman in Cena’s life was, were answered when they appeared on the red carpet together in October 2019 for the premiere of Playing with Fire.
During the premiere, Cena stated that the movie would always have a special meaning to him because it allowed him to meet someone special.
“What’s truly special about this one is that, no matter what projects I’m involved in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special,” Cena said at the premiere.
Just a year later, reports emerged that the two had gotten married. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida, back in Oct. 2020.
The couple had a second wedding last year, just 21 months after their first ‘I do’s.’
This time, they married at Vancouver; the same place John Cena saw Shay Shariatzadeh for the first time.
Shay Shariatzadeh was inspired by her family
Shariatzadeh revealed to Avigilon once that while she always enjoyed math and physics, it was her brother who influenced her decision to become an engineer. She said:
“I have always enjoyed math and physics. My brother studied engineering in school, and I remember one day he came home with a project, and it was an autonomous car — and that was it!”
Shariatzadeh also credited her mother for inspiring her to become the woman she is today.
“The strongest and most hard-working woman I know is my mother,” she said. “The biggest lesson she taught me was to be independent and fight for the things I want in life.”
“While she was at the peak of her career, she gave it all up to move her family to Canada to give us a better future. She is the reason I fight to be the best version of myself, to be kind and to never give up.”
She is John Cena’s second wife
John Cena was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau. They married on July 11, 2009, and divorced three years later. He then dated fellow WWE Superstar Nikki Bella. Theirs was a highly publicized relationship, with both of them being a constant presence in the limelight. Nikki’s involvement with the popular reality show, Total Divas, also contributed to it.
John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella after their mixed tag team match against The Miz and Maryse. However, the couple did not tie the knot. Just a year after the proposal, the couple broke up. Reports claimed that they differed in their views on wanting children. She has since married her Dancing with the Stars partner and Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev, with whom she has a son.
