WrestleMania 39 is going Hollywood and without a single match being announced so far, it’s already making history. Well, this has been a common phenomenon for WWE for the last year or so. When it comes to ticket sales, almost every pay-per-view has been receiving massive bookings. Recently, WWE announced that WrestleMania 39 is following the same trend and has broken the earlier gate record.
In WrestleMania history, the previous record was $17.3 million, which has held by WrestleMania 32. The 2016 Show of Shows took place from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. However, WrestleMania 39 has broken that gate record and WWE has officially confirmed that.
WrestleMania 39 surpasses the all-time gate record by distributing 99,968 tickets so far
The whole trend started in 2022 when WWE saw the ticket sales demand getting higher than ever. Last year, shows like Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and WWE Extreme Rules produced some historic numbers.
In fact, WWE’s Clash at the Castle also became the company’s highest-grossing U.K. event ever. Not to forget, the event in the U.K. took place after 30 years. Moreover, in 2022, RAW and SmackDown also broke the in-market gate records in more than 20 markets.
Recently, on its official page, WWE announced that WrestleMania 39 has broken the largest gate record in event history. As of January 2, 2023, 99,968 tickets have been distributed. For Night 1, WWE distributed 49,500+ tickets and for Night 2, the number goes over 50,100. Surpassing the previous record of $17.3 million, the upcoming show of shows is now on the top.

The 2023 Showcase of Immortals could very well be WWE’s best one in recent years
As the theme suggests, WrestleMania 39 will be hosted in Hollywood, which has already hyped up the show a lot. Plus, there are some big names expected to make an appearance. Though WWE has announced nothing so far, one can assume that stars Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, Edge, and Seth Rollins will feature.
Moreover, there are chances for John Cena and The Rock to wrestle a match at WrestleMania 39. If that’s true, the upcoming showcase of immortals can end up being the best one in recent years. Not to forget, stars like Randy Orton and Logan Paul might also appear if they recover from their injuries.
Nevertheless, since Triple H took over, every pay-per-view, in some way, surpassed a previous record. Therefore, WrestleMania 39 getting a record gate in history doesn’t come as a surprise. However, it will be interesting to see how things go with Vince McMahon back on the board.
