Yuvraj Singh dismissal in Global T20 Canada 2019: Yuvraj gets adjudged wrongly Out due to umpiring blunder vs Vancouver Knights

During the opening match of the much anticipated second edition of the Global T20 Canada 2019 between Toronto Nationals and Vancouver Knights at the CCA centre ground in Brampton, Ontario, Yuvraj Singh was wrongly adjudged Out by the Square-Leg umpire.

All eyes were on the Southpaw sensation from Punjab- Yuvraj Singh who had brought abundant smiles particularly on his Canada-based Indian fans’ faces after he was signed for the Tournament.

But, against expected lines he was unfortunately given Out in what was a case of an absolute school boy error from the square-leg umpire.

Square-Leg umpire makes an absolute blunder

It all happened on the second delivery of the 17th over. Vancouver Knights’ 40-year-old medium pacer- Rizwan Cheema managed to get an outside edge to the keeper who was standing close to the stumps.

Yuvraj went in for the big hit towards the leg-side, but could only garner an outside edge which the keeper failed to grab. The Southpaw had his backfoot inside the crease when the ball deflected onto the stumps off the keeper. But, a fraction of seconds hence, he lost his body balance making the Square-leg umpire give the impression that he was way outside the crease.

Yuvraj, was eventually given Out and went back in the hut after an agonising innings of 14 off 27 deliveries. Yuvraj too, perhaps due to excessive lower back pain with which he was struggling throughout his innings, decided to scamper off without any inquiries with the umpire.

It eventually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the Toronto Nationals who were toiling hard to give momentum to their innings as long as Yuvraj was at the crease, struggling.

Kieron Pollard (30* off 13) along with wicket-keeper Heinrich Klassen (41 off 20) scored 40 runs in the final three overs to power the Nationals total to 159/5 after 20 overs.
