Yuzvendra Chahal credits MS Dhoni for identifying bowlers he wants to go after
MS Dhoni’s little resurgence in this IPL has left everyone befuddled as the former Indian captain has found this new oomph in his batting, one that was missing from his arsenal for the past 6 months or so.
Returning to his favourite franchise has brought about the MS Dhoni of the old, one that bowlers fear and umpires stay out of the way of.
But what exactly is this change? Is the pressure a little less or has he just simply rediscovered his form?
Batting at number 4 and number 5 has helped Dhoni express himself better this year and probably that is the biggest reason for Dhoni flourishing in the IPL this year.
Yuzvendra Chahal who was on the receiving end of a Dhoni special at the Chinnaswamy the other day feels that Dhoni knows which bowlers to go after and which bowlers to play out.
“They (M. S. Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu) knew which bowlers to go after,” Chahal said, last match, Ambati Rayudu, and Mahi Bhai played very well. I was bowling the 14th over with the hopes of getting one of them out.” Chahal said.
“We knew a wicket then would mean they’ll only have one proper batsman (Bravo) left. But both batters didn’t take any risks and nudged the ball for ones and twos.
“Yeah, it (losing to CSK) was tough on the boys but we still have eight games to go,” he said before adding,”In 2017 and the year before that, we bounced back from a similar situation. Right now we’re just focussing on the next game.” he concluded.
