The player is said to enticed by a move to the Spanish club
Although the summer transfer window is still quite some distance away, clubs have already stated pulling out all stops to indulge in the services of Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian wonderkid’s stock has elevated massively across the last year, one the player and his agent are now looking to capitalise on. Despite his release clause at Borussia Dortmund not being activated till the summer of 2022, clubs are undeterred by that prospective.
While the biggest of names are lining up to woo the striker to their ranks, La Liga’s Barcelona and Real Madrid are the outright favourites as of now. After news emerged of Haaland purchasing property in Spain, Haaland’s father and agent Mino Raiola went to the country to conduct meetings with both Barcelona and Real Madrid on Thursday.
While Barcelona have asserted Haaland he’ll be the second top paid player at the club, only behind Lionel Messi, a deal to the club could be trickier than envisaged. Barcelona are facing massive financial problems at the moment, a peril which could see it arduous for them to shell out the 150 million pounds Borussia Dortmund will demand for him.
Haaland Demands Odegaard
Its this turmoil which Real Madrid will be looking to make the most of as they strive to lure Haaland to their ranks. However, the club has a decision to make on Martin Odegaard’s future if it is to persuade Haaland to move to the side.
According to Fernando Burgos on Onda Cero’s El Transistor, Erling Haaland demanded Real Madrid to bring Odegaard back on loan from Arsenal. Burgos states that if Haaland were to join Real Madrid, he would want to play in tandem with Odegaard at the club.
Both the players come from Norway and have often been seen striking up a lethal partnership on the pitch for their country. Odegaard who has never managed to make the cut under Zidane is currently impressing doing his loan spell at Arsenal.
While Arsenal are said to be working on a permanent move for the player, they could be dissuaded in their efforts if Real Madrid decide to meet Haaland’s demands.
