IPL cricket returned to the Chepauk after two years, as CSK hosted KKR in what was expected to be a superb match.

Batting first, Andre Russell was the star for KKR, as the all-rounder scored 88 off just 36 balls, as the West Indian smashed the CSK bowlers all over the Chepauk.

One year away from the game, Russell was outstanding with the bat as the West Indian showed everyone why he is one of the most gifted players in the world.

Uthappa looked good while he was there, as he stroked 29 runs before getting involved in a run-out with captain Dinesh Karthik. DK then played a supporting role to Russell, as he gave strike to the West Indian.

In reply, CSK started off superbly as Watson gave them the flier that they needed. Sunil Narine’s guile and skill suffocated CSK in the middle overs, before Sam Billings and MS Dhoni launched a counter attack.

Billings was brilliant, as he scored a rapid fire fifty to give CSK the initiative. But his dismissal gave KKR the initiative, as the match headed into a the last over with both sides fancying their chances to win.

In the end Bravo and Jadeja finished off the match in style, as CSK completed a triumphant return!

This is what Dhoni had to say after the victory,

“It feels good to come back after two years and win the game. It was a fantastic game. The first innings and the second innings. Everyone has their emotions and we tell everybody to keep it under control.

“We need to have the faith in the batsman or the bowler. Lot of positive energy helps. At times you feel disappinted, but for that dressing room is to express yourself. Yes. But every game one player is getting injured.

“We still feel that KKR scoreed more than us with all those sixes. IPL should add extra two runs for sixes hit out of the ground.”
