Willian: Chelsea star makes decision after Chinese club approach

Willian has turned down an official offer from Chinese Super side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua.

Chelsea’s Willian has turned down an offer from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua. The CSL side made an offer worth 20 million to the Blues, but he is reluctant to move away from Stamford Bridge currently.

The reigning Europa League winners have been hit with a transfer ban. This has forced them to work with the current crop of players and few will be staying following the loan spells from elsewhere. Willian has been a paradox, with the majority wanting him to leave the club.

According to the Brazilian publication UOL, the Chelsea winger has told the Blues that he is going nowhere. He will stay at the club and will fight for his spot, putting a full stop to the exit. He was subjected to interest from CSL side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, but the player has asked the club to turn down that offer.

The Blues were offered 20 million by the Asian club and Willian was also offered 12 million salary. The player denied the news, but the Brazilian outlet says the opposite.

The 30-year-old was even awarded four million more wage, which would be based on his performance. However, he has stated his desire to continue with Chelsea and work with the new manager. Maurizio Sarri has left the club recently and the Blues are close to landing Frank Lampard in a three-year contract.

The return of Lampard is expected to be made official in the upcoming week. With no chance of replacing Eden Hazard, the Blues were forced to do the business with the Los Blancos, in a deal which involved 88 million.
