Sarfaraz Ahmed admits wife cried after he was called ‘fat like a pig’
Sarfaraz Ahmed admits wife cried: Pakistan captain was vocal about receiving severe criticism from the fans after loss against India.
Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed admits that the week after his team lost to India in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was a tough one for the players. Post an 89-run defeat against their arch-rivals, Pakistani players were severely criticized by both their fans and former cricketers.
“I have always said that our Pakistani fans love us a lot. And we also know that when we win they will give us a lot of respect and when we lose, their anger is valid because they have expectations from us.
“After losing the match against India, that one week that passed by, however tough it was, our fans still came to Lord’s [match against South Africa] and supported the Pakistan team. They came to the hotel where we were staying and even met us outside and all of them told us one thing that we should concentrate on giving our best and leave the rest up to God,” Ahmed was quoted as saying in an interview which was uploaded on the official Twitter handle of ICC (International Cricket Council).
It all started when Ahmed was seen yawning on the ground before the start of the Indian innings post the rain-break. Having faced a lot of flak, Ahmed didn’t hesitate to find faults with the fans’ reaction during a recent press conference.

Another video which went viral was a Pakistani fan calling Ahmed “fat like a pig“. Despite the fan apologized to Ahmed, the skipper disclosed that the video took a toll on his wife and other family members. Moreover, Ahmed also expressed gratitude to people who supported them during this tough time.
“When I went back to the hotel I saw my wife was crying after watching the video. I tried to explain to her that this is just one video and that we have had people walk up to us and tell things. This is nothing serious we must be strong. All of this is a part of life, when we don’t perform well we will have to go through all this.
“Not just family members whoever saw the video have reacted against it. I would like to thank everyone who sent me tweets and messages of support and love on social media. We are grateful to everyone. Whatever we are today is because of our fans. If our fans support us, even we will perform better and stay motivated,” Ahmed was quoted as saying.
