Australia’s spearhead ruled out of the Test Series
Australia have suffered a huge blow in their quest to win the Border-Gavaskar trophy. There has been a lot of off field controversy surrounding the Australian side with respect to Smith’s DRS fiasco, and now they will have to take the field without their talisman Mitchell Starc, who has a stress fracture in his foot, and wouldn’t be able to play any part in the next two test matches.
Starc was suffering from pain in his right foot all through the Bangalore test and when examined, it turned out to be a stress fracture. He will be immediately returning back to Australia in order to kickstart his rehabilitation process.
“Mitchell experienced some pain in his right foot during the second Test in Bangalore which unfortunately had not subsided a few days after the Test as we had hoped,” team physiotherapist David Beakley said.

“We made the decision to scan his foot in Bangalore this morning and unfortunately it has revealed a stress fracture. Subsequently, this means Mitchell will be unavailable for the remainder of the Qantas Tour of India and will return home to Australia to start his rehabilitation.”
It all seems to be going downhill for the Australian side, since the 3rd of the Bangalore test. And now with Starc ruled out for the remainder of the series, it looks like Australia will need to do a lot of soul searching in order to win this gruelling test series.
Australia are yet to announce a replacement, and though they have a bunch of potent fast bowling options to chose from, no bowler could even come close to matching Starc’s brilliance.
