During the 36th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Headingly, Leeds, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed involved himself in a rather comical situation (for the outsiders) when the ball went high up in the air for a possible dolly of a catch.
Sarfaraz, however stood his ground with his eyes wandering all over the place.
What exactly happened?
It all happened on the fifth delivery of the 27th over. Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim bowled a quick 96kph delivery to the Afghanistan wicket-keeper Ikram Ali, who was struggling at the crease with his inability to rotate the strike.
Thus, he decided to go for a scoop, which, as a result of a poor execution went straight up in the air, after deflecting off his shoulders. Sarfaraz, who had expected the ball to land up somewhere near the fine-leg region, looked all over the place but the ball, to wander in a half circular motion, failing to grasp what had happened.
Mentioning about the match, a clinical performance by the Pakistani bowlers yet again, meant that they were able to restrict the Afghanistan batting line-up to a below par 227/9 after 50 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi with figures of 10-0-47-4, again wrecked havoc at the Afghan top-order to put them at the backfoot early on.

From Afghanistan’s point of view, their middle-order batsmen- Asghar Afghan(42 off 35) and Najibullah Zadran (42 off 54) did show some perseverance and made sure they at least played the 50 overs, although with a paltry total on the board.
