Semifinals World Cup 2019 Schedule Cricket: Into its last week, the ongoing Cricket World Cup has reached a vital stage.

The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has finally seem the culmination of its league stage. Having commenced on May 30, the more than five-week-long league stage witnessed some very intriguing and some ordinary matches. While incessant rains caused a major threat on the tournament initially, weather improved drastically as the tournament progressed.

Some surprising results throughout the tournament ensured that some top teams including South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies for the tournament don’t qualify for the knockout stage.

While there were questions raised regarding the format of the World Cup and whether it would attract viewers or not, the fact that the schedule for the semi-finals wasn’t confirmed until the last five overs of the league stage speaks highly of the same.

The four teams who have qualified for the semi-finals include India, Australia, England and New Zealand. With seven wins in nine matches, India ended the league stage as the table-toppers on the back of clinical performances barring the match against England.

In the seven matches which they won, Australia played like archetype defending champions across departments in the league stage. While hosts England were expected to lose less number of matches (than three), they put on display their top game when qualifying had seemed like a daunting task for them.

New Zealand, who remained at the top of the table for most part of the tournament, suffered a massive dip in form in the second half. With five wins in nine matches, New Zealand made it to the semi-finals on the basis of a better NRR.

The first semi-final will be played between India and New Zealand at Old Trafford on Tuesday. The second one will be played between Australia and England at Edgbaston on Thursday. Winners of both the match will qualify for the final which will be played on Sunday at Lord’s.
