Ravindra Jadeja catch vs New Zealand: Jadeja takes an excellent backtracking catch in the deep to dismiss NZ’s Tom Latham at Old Trafford
During the first semi-final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup between India and New Zealand at The Old Trafford in Manchester, India’s flamboyant all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took an excellent backtracking catch to dismiss New Zealand’s wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham to prevent the Kiwis to finish their innings on a high.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 49th over. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled a rare length delivery outside the off-stump to the Southpaw wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham. It was a perfect delivery to be hoicked towards the deep mid-wicket fence for a maximum. But, one has to get over a Ravindra Jadeja’s head to even think of pulling it off.
The 30-year-old was a few inches inside the rope, possibly to prevent the batsmen to run a couple in the ball heads towards his direction. But, the ball was clearly going over his head, but Jadeja quickly rushed back and leaped to grab an excellent reverse cup catch. In the end he kneels down one-legged facing towards the crowd soaking in the deafening applause.
India finish on a high
Resuming on a reserve day, due to incessant rains the day before, the Indian fast bowling duo of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah made sure that the Kiwi batsmen could only hit one solitary boundary in the remaining 23 deliveries they had to face in their innings. In fact they scored only 28 runs for the loss of three wickets.
It is a below-par total, but looking at the rather sluggish nature of the wicket, India will hope for a yet again decent opening stand from Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.
