Who was the Man of the Match in 2019 Cricket World Cup final between New Zealand and England?
Man of the Match in 2019 Cricket World Cup final: England all-rounder was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ in the big final.
During the final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between New Zealand and England at Lord’s, England defeated New Zealand in the super over to lift the World Cup for the first time. The fact that England won the match on virtue of scoring more boundaries in the match speaks highly of the cliffhanger.
Chasing a 241-run target, England scored the same amount of runs. A daunting task from the New Zealand fast bowlers put England’s scope of chasing the total in dark. With the hosts losing wickets at regular intervals, things continued to hang in balance despite England chasing a mediocre total.

In the second innings, a 110-run partnership for the fifth wicket between England all-rounder Ben Stokes and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler brought back England into the match. While Buttler’s 59 (60) with the help of six fours opened the match for England, it was Stokes’ unbeaten 21st ODI half-century which saw the crossing the victory line.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 20th over, Stokes ended up scoring 84* (98) with the help of five fours and two sixes. Other than the number of runs he scored, Stokes’ immense maturity was vital for England in the last few overs. The left-handed batsman also scored a crucial boundary in the super over off New Zelaand fast bowler Trent Boult.
