SRH Predicted Playing 11 for today’s match vs KXIP

SRH Predicted Playing 11 for today’s match vs KXIP: The Sportsrush presents before you SRH’s Predicted Playing 11 for their sixth match of IPL 2019.

The Sunrisers, after 3 wins on the trot, were humiliated by the Mumbai Indians who managed to dismiss the Hyderabad team for just 96 runs. There were whispers about the SRH middle order being extremely weak.

With this loss, the whispers have turned into loud voices and stand-in captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar was quick to accept that their middle order needs to apply themselves and chase down scores like 136 irrespective of the surface.

With 6 points from 5 matches, the Sunrisers now move to Mohali to play an important match against KXIP who are in the exact same situation. It will be a battle of equals and SRH needs to sort out a few of their issues soon enough if they want to live up to their ‘favourites’ tag.

Top-order

The top order is not a cause of concern for SRH at all. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have shown amply how good they are with the bat. They are the leading run-scorers in the League.

Vijay Shankar has blown hot and cold at No. 3. He needs to try and be more consistent and play a few sensible shots, settle in and then go for the big ones.

Overall, the SRH top 3 needs to take on additional responsibility considering the form of their middle order. They must look to play at least 14-15 overs among themselves. If Williamson is fit, he would make the top order stronger.

Middle-order

Let us have a look at some of the stats of the SRH middle order in this season so far.

Manish Pandey – 35 runs in 4 innings at an average of 11.67

Deepak Hooda – 30 runs in 2 innings at an average of 15.00

Yusuf Pathan – 32 runs in 5 innings at an average of 16.00

While it can be agreed that they have not got enough opportunities, it is still the responsibility of the middle order to step up when the top order fails. They have failed to do that in their last 2 matches. While they scraped to victory against DC, they were not as lucky against MI.

While Hooda and Yusuf might get a few more opportunities, it is probably time for the SRH management to consider the young Ricky Bhui who had a great domestic season in place of the out of form Manish Pandey. Mohammad Nabi is expected to round up the middle order in case Williamson is unfit.

Bowlers

There is no doubt that SRH have one of the strongest bowling attacks in the League. However, they have struggled with death bowling to an extent. Bhuvneshwar has not been in the best of form leading to expensive overs at the death. In spite of this, we cannot expect much tinkering with the bowling attack.

Bhuvneshwar, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul are expected to trouble the Punjab batsmen with their swing and variation. Rashid Khan, who has not performed up to the mark, would look to pick up a few wickets. Nabi, the second highest wicket-taker in IPL 12, would not want to lose his momentum.
