Archer discloses Eoin Morgan’s words: England fast bowler was vocal about his captain’s words and dream run in the last two months.
There is no hiding to the fact that England fast bowler Jofra Archer has had a terrific start to his international career. Having made his ODI debut in May, Archer played a vital role in making his team win the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Having picked 20 wickets in 11 ODIs at an average of 23.05, an economy rate of 4.57 and a strike rate of 30.2, Archer ended the tournament as England’s highest wicket-taker and third-highest overall.
Other than his performance throughout the season, Archer remained calm in the all-important super over to ensure that New Zealand don’t score more than 16 runs in the final over.

“Yeah. He [Eoin Morgan] didn’t even come to me. I had to ask him if it was me that was bowling it [super over]. A lot of other players told me that I’ve got this even before he [Morgan] came. I think everyone was probably looking at me to do it anyway,” Archer was quoted as saying.
Given how the match reached its culmination, it would be just to say that England were destined to win. Expressing his belief on defending 16 runs in the last over, Archer also talked about yesterday belonged to them.
“I had the belief [that we could defend 16 runs] but I’ve believed before and we lost the game. Probably just wasn’t meant to be [in the past] and equally we believed today and it happened. So, I guess it was probably our day as a team,” Archer added.
