Nabi grabs exceptional boundary catch: Kent all-rounder put on display an exceptional fielding effort at the fine leg boundary.

During the South Group match of the ongoing Vitality Blast between Kent and Somerset at Canterbury, veteran Kent all-rounder Mohammad Nabi put on display an exceptional fielding effort to dismiss Somerset fast bowler Jamie Overton.

It all happened on the second delivery of the 16th over when Overton pulled a Hardus Viljoen delivery towards Nabi at fine leg. With the ball looking set to go past the boundary, a calm Nabi balanced himself to perfection inches away from the boundary rope to eventually complete the catch.

Jamie Overton, who came in to bat at No. 9 in the 11th over, ended up scoring 19 (14) with the help of three fours. Nabi, who contributed across divisions in the match, grabbed his second catch of the night to send back Jamie Overton to the pavilion.

As far as the match was concerned, Kent registered a supreme 41-run victory. After Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond won the toss and chose to bat, the hosts scored 165/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the first over itself, debutant wicket-keeper batsman Ollie Robinson top-scored for Kent with 53 (49) with the help of six fours.

Nabi, who came in to bat at No. 4 in the second over, also contributed with 34 (20) with the help of a four and four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-19-3, Somerset all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe was their highest wicket-taker.

On the back of left-arm orthodox bowler Imran Qayyum’s 4-0-21-5, the home team bundled out the visitors for 124 in 18.3 overs. Having scored 28 (24) with the help of five fours, wicket-keeper batsman Tom Banton remained Somerset’s best batsman.
