Wriddhiman Saha comeback: BCCI official reveals Saha’s rehabilitation was initially messed up by NCA
Wriddhiman Saha comeback: BCCI official hints at signs of possible conspiracy as Saha’s rehabilitation was initially messed up by NCA
India’s wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has finally been selected for the two-match Test series against West Indies set to commence from August 22 at Antigua. He will begin his preparations with the India ‘A’ side after as long as 18 months, as he was out of the Indian Test squad owing to a shoulder injury.
India ‘A’ will face the West Indies ‘A’ side in a two match unofficial Test series beginning on Wednesday.
While the 35-year-old has returned back after a serious injury, reports suggest that his initial rehabilitation procedure was mishandled and messed up by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

What went worse for Saha was the fact that after recovering from the injury he sustained during India’s tour of South Africa in 2018, he was again prone to the same injury during IPL 2018. Also, with the 21-year-old Rishabh Pant’s impressive centuries in England and Australia, his chances of featuring in the Playing 11, despite being picked in the squad looks pretty bleak.
However, with reports of NCA’s alleged negligence in dealing with the wicket-keeper batsman’s initial rehabilitation programme puts a question mark on the procedure adopted by NCA in correctly dealing with his shoulder injury.
Reports suggests signs of a possible lapse or conspiracy
As per the reports, people in the scheme of things have pointed upon the fact that how can KL Rahul-who was suffering from a similar kind of an injury (a form of shoulder dislocation) had him regain his fitness within two months, while it took Saha more than a year, till the Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
“KS Bharath just about missed out on an India team berth. For the first time in 18 months, Wriddhiman will be keeping for a day or may be 120 overs if required. Then he will have to bat. The NCA had initially messed up his rehab and it required a surgery. It needs to be seen how it holds up,” a senior BCCI official privy to developments at the NCA told PTI on condition of anonymity.
No point in having Wriddhiman Saha hanging around if Rishabh Pant is main keeper in Tests, feels Harsha Bhogle.#CricketWithWCW pic.twitter.com/IFctnyGK5Y
