The tournament organisers are now showing keen interest in the recent retired Indian cricketers in all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and batsman Ambati Rayudu. Other than this duo, pacer Irfan Pathan is also being considered to be roped in for the shortest version of the game.
Going by a latest report in The National, chairman and founder of the T10 League Shaji Ul Mulk revealed that they are in contact with the Indian cricketers especially Yuvraj Singh and was hopeful of the deal getting cracked.
“We are very optimistic, and I think it is more about a number than willingness. Yuvraj [Singh] has a certain expectation, and we can only afford so much, let us put it that way.
“We are trying to bridge that gap, but the intention is very clear: he definitely wants to play. The same goes for other players who are retiring. There is an ongoing conversations, so we are pretty optimistic,” Ul Mulk was quoted as saying.
Yuvraj is currently leading Global T20 Canada franchise Toronto Nationals. Having finished third on the points table, Toronto will now play the qualifiers. In the five matches that he has played, Yuvraj has scored 145 runs at an average of 36.25 and a strike rate of 147.95 including one half-century.
