Virat Kohli dance celebration: Watch Indian captain reveals reason behind constantly dancing during West Indies tour
Virat Kohli dance celebration: The Indian captain opened up on his celebratory moves during the ongoing West Indies tour.
India captain Virat Kohli admitted that his 42nd ODI century came in a challenging situation at Port of Spain last night. “It was challenging today as it rained in day time, so it was hot and humid. Honestly, I was tired when I reached the score of 65, but the situation demanded me to work hard for the team,” Kohli was quoted as saying during his presence on Chahal TV alongside leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
With India losing opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (2) and Rohit Sharma (18), Kohli played the rescue act as India wanted a significant innings from one of their top-order batsmen. Laying emphasis on the same, Kohli believed it was important for him to stay at the crease yesterday.
“It was important for me to stay at the crease. As a team, we try that one of our top three batsmen goes on to play a big knock. Shikhar [Dhawan] and Rohit [Sharma] have done that for us in the past, but today they couldn’t score so it was important one should go on to score a big innings,” Kohli said.
“I have changed my lifestyle…”
After scoring 120 (125) with the help of 14 fours and a six, Kohli was acrobatic on the field as he ended up grabbing a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss West Indies opening batsman Evin Lewis (65) in the 28th over. Being asked about the same, Kohli highlighted the importance of contributing across divisions and preparing for the same by changing lifestyle and training.
“I have this mindset that I always want to work hard for my team, if there is an important catch or run out, I want to do it all. So, I think all players need to have that discipline that you can give your 100 percent on the field, or else, you can’t do justice to your team. I do everything possible so that I can contribute to the team in everything.
“I have changed my lifestyle, training and diet in such a way that I am able to contribute in any way possible for the team even in tough weather conditions. It all helps on such days when the conditions are tough,” Kohli added.
Virat Kohli dance celebration
A new department in which Kohli is doing the rounds these days is his on-field dance. Playing in West Indies, Kohli hasn’t let many dancing opportunities go away as he has been constantly witnessed dancing on the field, in the dugout and even with West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle.

“I am in a good head space so whenever I hear music, I feel like dancing. I just want to enjoy myself on the field. Doesn’t matter if I am the captain or not, I don’t want to get into a typical mould that I have to stand in a particular manner.
“God has given us such a wonderful life and opportunity to play for the country, so I think it is important to enjoy these small moments,” Kohli mentioned about his frequent dance moves.
