Jofra Archer Injury Update: Watch England pacer opens up on side strain ahead of 2nd 2019 Ashes Test
Jofra Archer Injury Update: The English fast bowler was recently vocal about his fitness ahead of the second 2019 Ashes Test.
Legendary Australia spinner Shane Warne recently voiced his opinion regarding uncapped fast bowler Jofra Archer being the answer to England’s problems especially with respect to dismissing Australia batsman Steve Smith.
In a recent interaction with the reporters, Australia coach Justin Langer expressed his curiosity on being asked about Archer making his debut in the second test of the series at Lord’s. Langer also shared a manner in which the Australian batsmen would look to “wear him down”.
“I’m really curious about how [Jofra] Archer is going to go. He’s played one red-ball game in 11 months. He’s a very skilled bowler and a great athlete. But Test cricket is very different to white-ball cricket.
“Like we’ve talked about a long time, we’ve got to keep wearing him down, and get him back into his second or third and fourth spells. Just curious how he’s going to go, like you are with all fast bowlers,” Langer was quoted as saying.
Jofra Archer Injury Update
Given so much that is being said around Archer, there is no hiding to the fact that his debut has become a much talked-about affair. Speaking to the reporters, Archer opened up on his preparation ahead of his Test debut. Archer also confirmed that he has fully recovered from a side strain now.
“Yeah. Probably more [prepared] than I’ve ever been. I’ve bowled 50 overs in one game already [for Sussex 2nd XI in a three-day game]. I’m usually the one bowling the most overs anyway.
“[On side strain] Never better. Just needed a few days to settle. Just couldn’t get that. As soon as the [2019] World Cup was over, it was a matter of days,” Archer said. Watch the full video below:
