Wasim Jaffer predicts Virat Kohli’s ODI centuries: Veteran Indian batsman recently tweeted about Indian captain Virat Kohli.

“Normal services have resumed” was the talk of the town when India captain Virat Kohli scored his 42nd ODI century in the second ODI against West Indies at Port of Spain last night.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the first over itself, Kohli once again stitched a rescue act for the team after India lost both their opening batsmen in Shikhar Dhawan (2) and Rohit Sharma (18) cheaply.

Having shared a 74-run partnership with Sharma, it was the pair of Kohli and Shreyas Iyer which made sure India don’t put on board a below par total. It was a 125-run partnership for the fourth wicket which powered India to 279/7 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

“Feels good to get a hundred when the team wanted me to get one. Shikhar [Dhawan] and Rohit [Sharma] didn’t get a big one. One of the top three has always got the big one. A senior man had to step up and today was my opportunity to step up. It was important to string in a lot of dot balls,” Kohli was quoted as saying during the post-match presentation ceremony.

While Kohli received plentiful appreciation for his innings yesterday, one of the congratulatory tweets came from veteran India batsman Wasim Jaffer. After writing about Kohli’s century, Jaffer predicted the number of ODI centuries Kohli will score before retiring from the game.

In 238 ODIs, Kohli has scored 11,406 runs at an average of 59.71 and a strike rate of 93.03 including 42 centuries and 54 half-centuries. Apart from Jaffer, Illustrious statistician Mohandas Menon also predicted Kohli’s ODI centuries last night.
