The Board of Control for Cricket in India-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of former India captain Kapil Dev, former coach Anshuman Gaikwad and former Women’s cricketer Shanta Rangaswamy has selected current Head Coach Ravi Shastri as the new coach.
Shastri, who was rumoured to retain his position has successfully done the same among competitors like former New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson, former Sri Lanka and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody, former India fielding coach Robin Singh and former India manager and Afghanistan coach Lalchand Rajput.

Speaking during the press conference held to make the announcement, Dev revealed the rank of the Top Three contenders and opened up on Shastri making the cut on a very small margin.
“We already decided. The system was very simple. After the meeting of four-five-six hours, all three of hours had our own marking. Neither of us consulted each other. We all unanimously decided after doing all the accounts and number.

What about the Batting, Bowling and Fielding Coach?
Other than the Head Coach, India were also scheduled to announce the support staff. It is worth mentioning that the CAC were only consulted to announce the Head Coach. It is believed that chief selector MSK Prasad will announce the support staff soon enough.
If reports are to be believed, bowling coach Bharat Arun is all set to be retained majorly because of how well India’s fast bowlers have done in the recent times. While batting coach Sanjay Bangar will face competition from former India opening batsman Vikram Rathore, fielding coach R Sridhar is expected to face stiff competition from former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes.
