Sachin Tendulkar tells us how Federer proved Yuvraj Singh wrong

Roger Federer has won his eight Wimbledon title and nineteenth Grand Slam overall, emphasizing the fact the he is truly be the greatest male singles player to have ever walked on to a tennis court.

While the world rejoiced and praised the legendary Swiss, another legend from a different strata of the sports world also offered his congratulations to Federer.

Sachin Tendulkar and Roger Federer are quite similar on many levels. Both men have achieved greatness in their respective sports. Both men are have taken their respective games to a level that no had ever seen before.

And both men also have a loyal and devoted fan base, who feel that they cannot do any wrong. In such a cynical world, Tendulkar and Federer give us hope that good people can still reach the very top, which is one of the reasons for their incredible fan support.

Sachin spoke of his admiration for the tennis player and also treasures the friendship that the pair share.

“I admire Federer and have been doing so from the time he started playing the Slams. In fact, it was in 2002 or so that Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) and I were watching Federer and Andy Roddick play. Yuvi was rooting for Roddick, while I was backing Federer.” said Sachin.

Sachin continued “Yuvi said that Roddick would be the one to watch in years to come. My only comment then was that we’d talk about greatness 10-12 years down the line.”

When asked if he had to convince Yuvi later on, Sachin had only one thing to say.

“I didn’t have to, for Federer’s done the talking for me!”
