Will Ambati Rayudu play for CSK in IPL 2020: The recently retired right-hand batsman was vocal about his career in the IPL.

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu has ruled out the possibility of him participating in overseas T20 leagues. It was recently reported that Rayudu is likely to be approached for the second season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League alongside veteran Indian cricketers like Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan.

Rayudu, whose international retirement came as an aftermath of him not getting selected in the Indian team for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, seems to have made a U-turn now. Currently playing the TNCA League in Chennai, Rayudu didn’t completely rule out the possibility of him playing in T20Is.

“I haven’t thought that far yet. I need to take it step-by-step and see how things pan out in the coming months. I wouldn’t say it was an emotional decision because I worked very hard for the World Cup in the last four years.

“You are bound to be disappointed and I felt it was time [to retire]. The decision that I took was not because of rejection or anything else. You work towards something and when you don’t get it, you feel it’s time to move on,” Rayudu was quoted as saying.

Having announced retirement from all forms of cricket, Rayudu has now expressed interest in continuing playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

“I would definitely be playing the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and make a comeback into white ball cricket. My priority now is to get back into peak fitness,” Rayudu added.

It was due a season of the IPL with CSK in 2018 which saw Rayudu making a comeback into the national team. In 16 matches, Rayudu had scored 602 runs at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 149.75 including one century and three half-centuries.
