Megan Rapinoe delivers powerful speech after winning the Best FIFA Women’s player of the year award
Megan Rapinoe delivers a powerful speech for the eradication of discrimination after winning the Best FIFA Women’s player of the year award.
Megan Rapinoe had a great year in football and for her brilliant display of game-play and achievments she won FIFA Women’s best player of the year award.
She was in a stiff competition with Megan Rapinoe and Lucy Bronze in the final three nominations, as other two were also equally worthy of the award, as they had successful campaigns for both club and country.
But in the end, Rapinoe took the award home, in what was meant to be the highlight of the show, as FIFA decided to give more attention to Women’s football and its importance.
Amidst all of this, Rapinoe gave a powerful message through her speech, where she talked about racism, equal rights and gender discrimination.
“Some of the stories that have inspired me this year… Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly. Their amazing performances on the field, but the way they have taken on the disgusting racism that they have to face…” said Rapinoe
The USA International is always vocal about her concerns in the society, and has made herself as an inspiration to look upto with the issues she brings at the surface at highest levels.
“I ask everyone lend your platform to other people, lift other people, share your success. We have a unique opportunity to use this beautiful game to change the world for the better. Do something. Do anything”. she further said.
