WATCH: Sarfaraz Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed involved in hilarious miscommunication vs Sri Lanka in Lahore

Sarfaraz Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed: The two Pakistani cricketers ended up at the striker’s end in a hilarious miscommunication in Lahore.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan in Lahore, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed were involved in a hilarious miscommunication which saw the latter getting run-out.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 12th over when Iftikhar hit an Isuru Udana delivery towards the cover region. A diving captain in Dasun Shanaka, who was fielding at cover, stopped the ball and threw it back to the Udana at the bowler’s end.

In the meantime, both the batsmen had decided to run a single. However, Iftikhar changed his mind midway but remained casual enough to return back to the crease. Having also not watched that Sarfaraz had almost surpassed him at the striker’s end, Iftikhar had to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the fifth over, Iftikhar ended up scoring 25 (24) with the help of two fours. Losing wickets at regular intervals in association with a below par run rate saw Pakistan eventually getting bundled out for 101 in 17.4 overs.

With bowling figures of 2.4-0-11-3, Udana was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep and leg-spinner Wanidu Hasaranga also picked three and two wickets respectively.

After Sarfaraz won the toss and put Sri Lanka in to bat, the visitors ended up scoring 165/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Having scored 57 (38) with the help of eight fours and a six, Sri Lanka opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka’s second T20I half-century played a key role for his team.
