WATCH: Babar Azam drives Mitchell Starc effortlessly through covers for classy four in Canberra
Babar Azam drives Mitchell Starc: The Pakistani captain continued from where he left in the first T20I in Sydney.
During the second T20I of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of Australia in Canberra, Pakistan captain Babar Azam went all guns blazing against Australia’s new ball bowlers in Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson.
Having hit a couple of boundaries off Richardson in the first over, Azam then attacked Starc in the following over. In what is the shot of the match till now, Azam drove a short ball from Starc through the covers for a classy boundary. The 25-year old cricketer hit another four through square leg on the fourth delivery of the same over.
Opening the batting with Fakhar Zaman (2), Azam scored his 12th T20I half-century in an innings where his fellow batsmen didn’t provide much assistance. Before getting run-out off an exceptional throw by Australia batsman David Warner, Azam ended up scoring 50 (38) with the help of six fours.
It was Azam who won the toss and chose to bat today. In what has been a mediocre batting effort overall, Pakistan would be hoping for all-rounders Iftikhar Ahmed and Imad Wasim to up the ante in the slog overs.
In the first T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Pakistan registered a narrow escape after rain played spoilsport in the second innings.

Australia seems to be Babar Azam’s favourite opponent in T20Is #AUSvsPAK pic.twitter.com/donfRkS9nR

Babar Azam is just in a different league compared to the rest of the Pakistan batting. Much like Sachin in the early-mid 90s & Lara throughout his career. One man, different class, way above the rest. #AUSvPAK
