Veteran English fast bowler Stuart Broad was born on June 24, 1986, in Nottingham. Having been born 12 weeks prematurely, Broad’s name was kept after his doctor John (middle name) as a noble gesture towards him for having saved his life.

His father, Chris Broad, was a former England opening batter who later on also went on to become an ICC umpire and match referee. His late step-mother Michelle Broad had died by suicide in 2010 at the age of 60.
Michelle had been diagnosed with a motor neurone disease in May 2009. After almost 16 months of struggle, she finally decided to end her life. A few of her letters and e-mails to people had suggested that she did not wish to become a burden on others, as the disease had gradually affected her ability to talk.
Stuart also has an elder sister named Gemma Broad. Gemma had began her career as a Performance Analyst for the England and Wales Cricket Board. In the year 2009, she was promoted to the post of England Men’s team analyst and was part of the side’s Ashes series victories (2009 and 2010-11) and ICC World TwentyT20 2010 triumph as well.

Reportedly, Broad had proposed to King on January 1, 2021, after being together for three years.
