MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli might play for Asia XI in March
MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli might play for Asia XI: The Bangladeshi Board has requested the Indian board to allow seven players to play for Asia XI.
Bangladesh agreeing to play in the first place was a major reason behind the outright success of the recently concluded day-night Test with the pink ball at Eden Gardens. Considering that the change was made less than a month before the match, not many oppositions would have agreed to go forward with the latest plan.
With the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) accepting India’s plan wholeheartedly, it seems that it is now BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to accept one of BCB’s requests.

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli might play for Asia XI
If reports in Sports Tak are to be believed, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the BCCI to allow seven Indian cricketers to take part in the Asia XI vs World XI T20Is in March next year.
The players include veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain Virat Kohli, limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounders in Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
It is worth mentioning that Bangladesh are planning to organize these matches to celebrate the 100th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahma. The Asian XI will comprise of players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
While there has been no confirmation at this point in time, it is believed that the two T20Is will be played between March 18 and 21 next year.
Given the Indian board’s stand on not allowing players to play in overseas leagues or tournaments, it will be interesting to see if BCCI allows the aforementioned names to play in Bangladesh.
A potential hindrance regarding the Indian board granting permission to its players is that the Indian team is scheduled to host South Africa for an ODI series during the same period as the Asia XI vs World XI matches.
