Brian Lara identifies two Indian cricketers who can break his world record of 400 runs
Brian Lara identifies two Indian cricketers: The legendary batsman names two Indian batsmen who might break his world record.
Former West Indies captain Brian Lara’s world record score of 400 runs in a single Test innings was in danger last month when Australia opening batsman David Warner scored his maiden triple century against Pakistan in Adelaide.
With enough time remaining in the Test, it was widely anticipated that the Australian team management would let the southpaw challenge Lara’s record. However, a surprising declaration from Australia captain Tim Paine secured Lara’s record.

Speaking during an event in India, Lara took the names of two Indian batsmen who according to him can challenge his Test record.
“A guy like Rohit Sharma who you know you wonder if he’s still a test cricketer or not. If he gets going on a good day, on his day, on a good pitch, right situation he can do it [score 400 runs in one innings]” Lara was quoted as saying by New Corp.
Apart from the senior cricketer, Lara also identified a rookie batsman in Prithvi Shaw to break his record and more importantly make a comeback into the national side soon.
“It will need an attacking option. I know he’s fell off the radar a little bit, Prithvi Shaw was one of those attacking options. Hey, here’s a 19-year-old who has the world in front of him, hopefully, he can come back soon,” Lara said.
Shaw was declared the ‘Man of the Series‘ in his debut Test series on the back of scoring 237 runs at a strike rate of 94.04 including one century and half-century each against West Indies at home last year. However, an ankle injury in Australia followed by an eight-month suspension have delayed things for him.
