Back in 2008, Yuvraj Singh was one of the poster boys of the Indian Premier League, as the left hander was widely considered to be India’s best batsman in the shortest format of the game.

Yuvi’s heroics in the T20 World Cup one year back was fresh in everyone’s minds, which is why everyone was eagerly waiting to see Yuvraj light up the IPL. But it’s been almost ten years since the first edition of the IPL, and we are still waiting for Yuvraj Singh to dominate an IPL season.

Now at the fag end of his glorious career, it is fair to say that Yuvi’s time as one of the premier batsman in the game is long behind us, as the left hander is not even on the radar of the national team selectors right now.

Yuvraj has one winner’s medal to his name, when he was part of the triumphant Sunrisers Hyderabad side in 2016. But he was merely a passenger, rather than a crucial cog in that side.

With the IPL auction fast approaching, many people are wondering where Yuvraj will find himself, as his fitness is also a huge concern heading into the 2018 season.

It is now being reported that Sunrisers Hyderbad will release Yuvraj and will not even consider using the Right to Match card for him. The RTM card allows the team to buy back their player in the auction, which has been introduced to give the teams a chance at retaining most of their core group of players.

But this will come as a huge blow to Yuvraj, as the southpaw will now be hoping to get picked up by any of the franchises in the mega auction!
