Yusuf Pathan refuses to walk: The senior all-rounder from Baroda was seen showing dissent to the umpire in the Ranji Trophy.

During a first round match of the ongoing 86th season of the Ranji Trophy between Baroda and Mumbai in Vadodara, veteran Baroda all-rounder Yusuf Pathan showed dissent to the umpire after the latter ruled him out.

It all happened after Pathan seemed to edge a delivery from Mumbai spinner Shashank Attarde to short-leg. With all the Mumbai fielders appealing in unison, the umpire instantly raised his finger.

Pathan, who thought of the otherwise, continued to stand his ground. Despite the opposition players celebrating and the umpires discussing among themselves, the 37-year old showed no intention to leave the ground.

Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane eventually had to walk towards Pathan as the duo was seen discussing the dismissal albeit in a contradictory manner. After Mumbai wicket-keeper batsman Aditya Tare interfered in between Pathan and Rahane, Pathan finally decided to walk back to the pavilion.

Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 44th over, Pathan ended up scoring 14 (11) with the help of three fours. In what was Attarde’s first wicket, he also dismissed Baroda all-rounder Deepak Hooda (61) in the 50th over.

Chasing a monumental 534-run target, Baroda were bundled out for 224 in 52.4 overs as Mumbai registered a 309-run victory. With bowling figures of 16.4-1-72-4, Mumbai spinner Shams Mulani was the pick of their spinner on the final day.

The match will primarily be remembered for Mumbai opening batsman Prithvi Shaw scoring a magnificent maiden double century in the second innings. Opening the batting with Jay Bista (68), Shaw ended up scoring 202 (179) with the help of 19 fours and seven sixes.

Mumbai captain Suryakumar Yadav also continued his golden form across format on the back scoring 102* (70) with the help of 12 fours and five sixes as Mumbai posted a match-winning 409/4 dec. in 66.2 overs on Day 3.
