“Goes unnoticed at times”: Sourav Ganguly lauds Ravi Ashwin’s performance; Ashwin responds
Sourav Ganguly lauds Ravi Ashwin’s performance: The President of the BCCI recently praised the premier spinner’s numbers.
Former India captain and current President of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Sourav Ganguly took to his social media platform Twitter handle to express admiration for India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
The tweet came as an aftermath of the ICC (International Cricket Council) announcing that Ashwin has ended the decade 2010-2019 as its highest wicket-taker across formats.
“Most international wickets for ashwin this decade.. what an effort .. just get a Feeling it goes unnoticed at times .. super stuff ..,” read Ganguly tweet. The post also contained a screenshot of ICC’s Instagram post regarding Ashwin.
It is worth mentioning that Ashwin has surpassed the likes of veteran English pace duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad, the Kiwi fast bowling pair of Tim Southee and Trent Boult, former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath and veteran South African fast bowler Dale Steyn in terms of number of wickets taken in this decade.
In 227 international appearances across formats in this decade, the 33-year old player dismissed 564 batsmen at an average of 27.15, an economy rate of 3.47 and a strike rate of 46.9 including 27 five-wicket hauls and seven 10-wicket hauls.
Ashwin achieving all these milestones despite not playing limited-overs cricket for the last two and a half years speaks highly about his domination in cricket’s ancestral format.
