Shoaib Malik takes sly dig at Indian team in ‘Merry Christmas’ post
Shoaib Malik takes sly dig at Indian team: Former Pakistani captain recollected a T20I victory over India in his ‘Merry Christmas’ post.
Veteran Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik indirectly poked fun at the Indian cricket team in his recent social media post regarding Christmas.
“Merry Christmas dosto, and a very happy 25th December,” read the tweet which also contains a photo of Malik celebrating victory and a dejected former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
For those of you who haven’t got the reference till now, Malik has highlighted the match played on December 25, 2012, between India and Pakistan in Bengaluru.
Having stitched a match-winning 106-run stand for the fourth wicket alongside the then captain Mohammad Hafeez (61), Malik powered Pakistan to chase a 134-run target in the last over in the first T20I of Pakistan’s tour of India in 2012-13.
The right-hand batsman had scored 57* (50) with the help of three fours and three sixes as the visitors went 1-0 up in the two-math series. Making Pakistan win after being reduced to 12/3, Malik and Hafeez were part of a fantastic chase against India.
It is worth mentioning that both India and Pakistan haven’t played a bilateral series against each other since Pakistan’s tour of India in 2012-13.
37-year old Malik had last played for Pakistan during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Despite being dropped from the side since the World Cup, Malik continues to play for his domestic teams with eyes on the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Ausrtralia.
