The West Indies are a unique lot. They may not be the same threat they were around 4 to 5 decades back. However, they are such entertainers that every time they take the field, win or lose, they have your attention.

From Chris Gayle to Kieran Pollard, the men from the Caribbean are immensely pleasing to watch and if the ICC U19 World Cup 2020 is anything to go by, it appears that the future of the West Indies will have several more of these fun characters.

West Indies took on Australia in their opening match. West indies captain Kimani Melius won the toss and put his opposition in to bat. Australia quickly lost 4 wickets to vindicate their captain’s decision to bowl first. However, a 5th wicket partnership between Jake Fraser-McGurk (84) and wicketkeeper-batsman Patrick Rowe (40) threatened to take the game away.

Jayden Seales provided the breakthrough in the 33rd over when Rowe slashed the ball to Melius. Seales’ opening partner in bowling then produced the unique moment when he got down on his knees and pretended to clean his boot.

Following the dismissal, the Australian innings crumbled like a pack of cards and they were all out for 179 without completing their allotted overs. West Indies completed the chase rather comfortably in the end after being reduced to 92/5 at one stage.
