WATCH: Siddarth Kaul bowls absolute jaffa to Samit Gohel; batsman survives despite stumps flying in the air
Siddarth Kaul bowls absolute jaffa to Samit Gohel: Punjab’s pacer bowled praiseworthy spells in the first session of the third day.
During the third day of the ongoing league match of the 86th season of the Ranji trophy between Gujarat and Punjab in Valsad, Punjab pacer Siddarth Kaul was successful in drawing first blood in the first over of the day itself but luck played spoilsport at the wrong time for the visitors.
It all happened on the first delivery of the day when Gujarat opening batsman Samit Gohel was absolutely clueless against a jaffa from Kaul. Having played all-round an incoming delivery, all Gohel witnessed was his stumps flying in the air.
However, the umpire’s decision to check for a no-ball saved the batsman as Kaul was found guilty of overstepping. Despite getting a reprieve, Gohel failed to score a run today as he was eventually bowled by Punjab seamer Baltej Singh in the 13th over.
Having registered his 14th First-class five-wicket haul in the first innings, Kaul has continued to bowl probing lines and lengths as he has already dismissed two batsmen in the 12 overs that he has bowled in the second one.
With Gujarat earning a 52-run first innings lead, it was pivotal for Punjab to take early wickets in a bid to push for their third win of the season.
Having restricted the hosts to 108/6 in 40 overs at Lunch on Day 3, Punjab have significant chances of doing the aforementioned. On the contrary, Gujarat would be looking to extend their 160-run lead in the upcoming sessions.
