Shardul Thakur and Colin Munro collide: The Kiwi opening batsman and the Indian seamer were involved in a nasty collision.

During the second T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Auckland, New Zealand opening batsman Colin Munro and India seamer Shardul Thakur were involved in a nasty collision midway on the pitch.

It all happened on the second delivery of the sixth over when Munro’s attempt of running a leg bye and Thakur’s attempt of stopping him saw both of them hit again each other. While Munro continued to complete the run, Thakur fell on the ground in a ramification of the collision.

In what was a delivery on leg-side, the southpaw had wanted to pull it but it hit his thigh pad before him and Martin Guptill ran for a run.

While Guptill played exceedingly well for his 33 (20) with the help of four fours and two runs, Munro played second fiddle by scoring 26 (25) with the help of two fours and a six.

However, despite a brisk 48-run opening partnership, the hosts have lost way of their innings on the back of losing four wickets in quick succession for not many runs.

Earlier, it was New Zealand captain Kane Williamson who won the toss and chose to bat. It is worth mentioning that both the teams fielded an unchanged playing for this match.
