The truth behind Bernardo Silva’s transfer talk amidst Man City Champions League ban. The English champions face an exile from the European championship.

Manchester City have compiled one of the, if not the best squad in the entire world. Doing so has enabled them to become a powerhouse in the Premier League. A champions league trophy though, still eludes them.

Their hopes of winning Europe’s greatest honor suffered a major setback when the UEFA banned the club from the Champions League for 2 seasons following “serious breaches” of the financial fair play rules. The club have since announced to appeal the sentence. However, failure to overturn the ban leaves them in a position where they could risk a mass exodus from their world class unit.

There is talk of Bernardo Silva initiating an SOS to his former club Benfica in an attempt to exit the club following the ban.

“I have already said it several times; I have this emptiness of having left a little early, so I think I will come back. If they want me there, I think I will come back,” he told Eleven Sports per Record.

This statement can be very easily translated as Silva trying to force his way out of a club in peril. The truth however, is that the comment was made well before the ban came in effect. The following interview in its entirety will be published this Tuesday.

Bernardo Silva came through the Benfica youth academy. However, he only made 3 appearances for the senior side before moving to Monaco on loan. The move was later made permanent and the winger played an important role in Monaco ending PSG’s monopoly in the French Ligue.

His performance against Manchester City in the Champions League caught Pep Guardiola’s attention, following which, he was bought into the club for an undisclosed amount rumored to be around €50 million (£43.5 million), which could reach €70 million with add-ons.
